This year’s burn studios residency just got even bigger, as the almighty all-DJing, all-producing Swede Avicii is set to join giants Fatboy Slim, Steve Lawler, Joe Goddard, Solomun and Maceo Plex on this year’s mentor panel. After a rocket-speed rise to fame over the past few years, Avicii now takes place as the prestigious DJ Magazine’s third best DJ in the world, having jumped three places from number six in 2011.
Avicii has described the undertaking as a truly exciting chance “to help nurture and guide the next wave of international electronic music talent”, going on to commend the burn studios residency program as “a fantastic opportunity, not just to the residents but to all the finalists who will join me and the other producers and DJ’s at Bootcamp… The way to success isn’t easy at all, so I hope I can make an impact on them by giving out some knowledge and advice on both the production and the industry. I can’t wait to get started and to meet the finalists in May.”
Having been spotted by legendary artist Tiësto early in his music-making, Avicii was soon invited to take a residency at the world’s biggest club and former burn studios residency partner Privilege in Ibiza. Since then a string of high profile collaborations have included work with David Guetta, Tiësto, Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, Sebastian Ingrosso, Daft Punk, Robyn and Bob Sinclair, leading to two Grammy nominations and multiple top ten billboard-charting hits worldwide. Now signed to EMI, he is considered one of the company’s “top four” artists as he continues to collect fans all over the world. With a three million-strong community on Facebook alone, Avicii stands as one of the most powerful pioneers in the monumental rise of contemporary EDM, proceeding to change the face of popular music as we know it alongside fellow superstars such as David Guetta.
This man is making musical history, make sure you’re in attendance for his unmissable masterclass this summer with burn studios residency.
